BDC 269 has an MOT for the first time in 20 years.

Took a bit longer than I'd planned but that doesn't matter now.

a large amount of work has taken place but it's nowhere near finished, think this might be a life long project!

Have to wait until Monday to get down the DVLA office to get it registered as historic before I can tax it so it'll be a torturous weekend but after 20 years 2 more days aren't going to matter.
Even the 2 mile trip back from the testing station was glorious, I can't wait!

The picture definitely flatters the car! Unfortunately some time ago it spent 2 years under a tarpaulin and has some areas of micro blistering.
It desperately needs new spinners which I think will lift the whole appearance.

More pressing issues that I discovered last night is a fuel leak coming from somewhere underneath the webers. I've not been able to locate the the source yet. The fuel lines are all new and definitely tight, float heights are correct, new misab plates on the manifold. More hunting required!

Can't quite remember the Weber structure, but if that was Dellorto it is likely that the accellerator pump gasket or diaphragm has failed. It might be similar on Weber.

Had a fettle over the weekend and thought I may have sorted it but a 30 mile journey this evening had fuel leaking again.
It is coming from the accelerator pump cover. It only seems to do it after a few miles and doesn't appear to leak when the engine is running. After turning the engine off it drips for about 30 seconds and then stops.
Anyone have any experience of this?

The webers were recently overhauled but I think I'll be removing them tomorrow for further investigation.

Today's drive threw up a few more teething problems which should keep me busy for a while but overall my first proper drive in an Elan was absolutely marvelous.
