I bought some s/h ones from a member here some time ago,, in anticipation, but it seems they are not identical, they have slightly different apertures for the stub axles, so I'm not sure. I think I will leave it until after I inspect the existing uprights. Once the trunnions are OK again it should be relatively easy to take down the uprights for replacing, but the precision effort that seems to be needed to fit stub axles and bearings worries me a little as I don't have the exact tools for doing that kind of stuff.
I used to use the big old lathe to press on circular things, but we (me and its owner) donated that lathe to an apprentice training Mill/School in Yorkshire a couple of years ago.
The tapers in the holes of the s/h uprights seems to be the same, so as far as I can tell the effect would be that the stub axle will go deeper into one of the uprights compared to the other. I don't know if this would interfere with the bearing fit.
