1964 Price List

ElanInTheForest originally posted this 1964 price list, but I wanted to ask a question I've asked before which no one seemed to have an answer for. If you look at the right hand side for a built up version of the S2 it shows "Hardtop (no soft top) " as an option. My question is then, was this true? If you ordered the Elan with a hardtop was the soft top then not included with the car? This seems resonable but maybe not. If I were ordering a car back in the day and wanted a hardtop it would be unlikely that I would also want a soft top or a tonneau. I have all 3 now, and I find them all usefull, but I could certainly live with just the hardtop.

I can't answer your question but your logic is sound.

Unless it means you could have a hardtop instead of a soft top for an extra ?68? Odd that they don't also list the price for adding an optional soft top.

Perhaps Andy (Graham) can enlighten us

Seems straightforward to me - order a hardtop and you don't get a soft top is what the pricelist says. No hardtop and you you get a hood! But the guy who wants a soft top and a hardtop will have to ask the price....

Looks like two columns: fully built, either/or. Component form could be both, as the hardtop looks to be priced as an extra.
