Just thought of this,if you are one who constantly worries if their nuts are tight,just a datum line in permanent marker on the nuts in line with the valve,,,simples,,,not foolproof though,next time you check it could have loosened off by 360 degrees..and for those perfectionists ,it just polishes off with Solvol Autosol..

Serves me right for not looking too closely - it seemed that you had also run a line onto wheel from the wheel nut.......blame it on the jubilee party yesterday

Hi John, your idea just adds another layer of safety. It is simple and Brilliant.
I just posted an idea for knockoff spinners -- not new-- but can be used as a convenience in the Business and Vendor listings section. It stops the wheels from spinning when applying torque to the spinners.
Keep those ideas coming.

A nice idea, an alternative to a bit of Glyptal dabbed onto the knock-on nut and wheel. Off by 360 degrees? I guess that is the reason for your emoticon. One turn too tight = broken hub, one turn too loose = you'll already know the wheel is coming off.
