Hi All,

I had attended 5th Lotus Elan Touring earlier this month here in Japan.
It was another great event and there were 40 plus Elans which was almost same number that we had last year. It was great to see so many of Elans and the people I had met from last year.

Cool Event and looking forward to next year!

THe folks in Japan truely must love to show their Elans. In the U.S. if you can get 20 to 25 together at one time that is quite an event. I don't know what a great turn out is in the U.K. as we don't get that type of photo from there. Thanks for sharing, there seems to be a great assortment of various years and series shown. Love them all and I am sure everyone else on the forum like to see them gathered in one spot for the group photo.

Thanks again

Gary

Hello type28jp,
Do you know anything about that sleek and slender BRG S1 with the tan interior in your first picture. It's a great looking car.
Thank you for the pics. Does your type 28 have the original steering wheel? Is it a very thin wood rim? The reason I ask is I can't imagine that Lotus put the Elan S1 steering wheel on Cortinas but then again....

Tim,
Cut and paste it into a Japanese / English translator, there are plenty on line..... It goes something like
"honourable sir, may your trunnions remain tight and your doughnuts elastic"

Hello Brian, yes that was the car I was referring to, I ASSumed it was an S1. I love the color combination, original or not ! I wonder if that's a leather interior.
Thanks for the zoom shot.

Hi Eric,

As Brian had indicated it is an S2. see attached better image.
The owner has picked nice tan interior even the crash pad to match the tan.
It was not a fiber glass crash pad so I assumed it is one that he had made for this car.

I used to own 63 Lotus Cortina (Pre-Airflow) with original A-frame rear, and I did have an original steering wheel. It is somewhat similar to early Elan S1 that has riveted grips with spokes at 2, 6, 10 o'clock (Y shaped) and it was a thin wood rim like an Elan.
