Got my MOT today from my friendly MOT man, because it hadn't been MOT'd for over eighteen months (six months out of date) he had to start from scratch with the online form.
He couldn't find my car on the chassis database even though it's scratched in quite clear on the bulkhead chassis plate.
In the end I went home and got the old MOT and log book, both of which have the car down with a FOUR digit chassis number leaving out the Lotus marque number 45. Odd. Never noticed that.
He did try the Spyder 'subframe' number but fortunately that also came up blank.

Anyway, all MOT'd up and ready for Crystal Palace and Le Mans.

Congratulations on the MOT, all ready now for the Summer :)

I had a very nice letter provided by Andy Graham at Lotus Archives basically telling the DVLA that my VIN number like yours had been abbreviated when the car was registered back in the distant past, he explained how the number on the V5 and the number on the VIN plate related to the same car and hey presto I now have a correctly registered car right down to it being an Elan S4 Convertible, Green & White, with all other numbers and CC's correct. Previously it was just registered as a Lotus with no model type and colour Blue, it had been red for 25 years until I made it pistachio over white!

Apparently these sorts of mistakes are common with Elans, especially if they were kit built.

Happy motoring.
