Oil pump is all about clearences which can be measured. If you question it then just replace it. All the specs are in the manual.

Yes, I was going to replace it anyways as it is one of the old cartridge type. I just want to make sure we have covered all the bases before I put this back in the car.

I think we are out of responses so I am going to proceed.

Check out all clearances, top and bottom end. Check the valves, guides and buckets.

Check the bores and the rings.

Put the motor back together with all new bearings, oil pump and fuel pump. Use the new preoiler i bought to pre oil the motor with the cam cover off to see oil fill the top of the motor.

Put the motor back in and see what happans.
