Any Elan guys around Sacrameto?

PostPost by: zog » Sun Feb 26, 2012 12:57 pm

Hi,

The Elan that I sold to a guy in California is expierencing some teething pains. The back weber carb is spewing gas. I think the float is stuck. Anyone in the Sacramento area who can help?

Thanks,

Bob

Bob, I got in contact with Duke. He is bringing his Elan to my place this Sat morning for a bit of fiddling. Weber guru Keith Franck is driving up from the bay area and will do some trouble shooting and/or tuning. With a bit of luck Keith should have him going.

Thanks Mike. I'm thinking the float in the rear carb is hanging up and flooding out the rear carb. The jets are stock and the needles & seats are new.

If I was retired this would have been a great excuse for a road trip.....

Thanks!

Hi Bob

You'd probably put in an offer on that yellow coupe without the engine, at least it would get back on the road that way. :)

Hi Pete,

I'm not sure what kind of interaction you've had with Keith, but I can speak from personal experience when I say that he is passionate about making Weber carbs better, he is a very nice guy, and my car runs far better after having met him.

Cheers,

Duke

ps - beautiful photos on your website...

It's nice to know there are other Elan owners around Sac.
I'm planninng on starting a restoration on my Sprint, US720183k, later this year.

Would any of the Sacramento/Bay Area/Reno/Carson City area Elan owners be interested in this?
