Elan pick up tomorrow and Insurance

I've arranged to pick the elan up tomorrow so pictures will follow on Friday as it is likely to be dark when I get home. I've had to take out a seperate insurance policy as I can't add it to the "morgans only" policy. The price quoted is ?154.00 on a classic policy but one stipulation is it must be garaged overnight whilst on my premises. This doesn't apply for the morgans policy. Not too much of a problem but a little inconvenient till one of the mogs is sold. Is this normal on classic car policies?
Question: is this common on a "classic" policy and does the quote seem reasonable bearing in mind I'm not transferring any no claims discount from a previous policy?

John,

Have you tried our resident Elan owner and insurance broker?

Distance selling regs possibly allow you to cancel the one you have bought at no charge???

Thanks for that.
Unfortunately I couldn't get past the recorded messages. I'll have to try again tomorrow.

Fair comment in a way Ian,
You've been in one then!! A mog still puts a smile on the face though after a couple of miles.

My wife's MGTF is a far pleasanter car on a long Journey but I don't admit that to her. Last Summer we visited some friends in France and did the Journey back in one stint in the +4. I still had a hundred miles to drive and I was shuffling about in the seat trying to get my back comfortable. I daren't admit it to my wife though as she wanted more comfort for the long Journey, I feigned getting cramp in my foot instead.

I hope my memories of elans live up to the reality tomorrow. Up to a 50 mile drive home depending on the route. Quickest and shortest is the motorway but I'll probably take the cross country route and test out the road holding again. What's the quickest time anyone can get the hood up if the weather is rough?

If you can pick a route where you don't have to stop at traffic lights or similar providing you are going above 30 mph you don't get wet!

I'm not familiar with the terminology used in the insurance industry in England, but my agent here told me that being garaged (for my insurer, at least) just means that it's on your property, not on the street or in a public parking garage. Might the same be true there?
