Just had a few days in the glorious Derbyshire dales so I thought I'd post a couple of pic's of Little'un as my wife calls her

I love the dales but Derbyshire has to be one of the most frustrating places to drive in the UK. It's nearly impossible to drive safely because the speed limit changes every couple of hundred yards often up to 50 (maximum) is very poorly signed and to make it worse I have never seen so many speed cameras!

I spent most of my driving time scouring the roadsides for speed markers and cameras

That said, if I could afford the property prices the dales would be on my shortlist

Nice photos!

Norfolk of course is a bit short on hills & things which make the scenery so much nicer.
Give Somerset a try some time.
Loads of "Lotus roads & lanes" hills & views a plenty & the houses in most places still affordable.

My Elan was originally yellow & my German missus called it "Pickel"; translated, a little yellow pimple or acne!
Nevertheless she loved driving it & grabbed it in the mornings before I could.

Yes, we live on the edge of the Fens, IMO one of the most depressing places, so bleak, flat and dull.

I like other areas of the good old UK but there is just something special about the "backbone of England"

At Jodrell you were dangerously near Sweetenham where El Presidente Pete and other CLOGs meet on the first Sunday of the month.
Last week I received 2 summonses from the average speed cameras on the Cat Fiddle which leads from the Peak District (great driving) to the p(l)ain of Cheshire. These were widely reported as being switched off as there are 4 but a short cut reduces the journey time between 1 and 4 without speeding. Evidently (!) cameras 1, 2 and 3 are still operating.
The police accepted that as I was photographed twice in consecutive minutes I was only speeding once so I`ve been sent for "education", so that`s alright.
Years ago when radar traps were first introduced Elan owners complained that it wasn`t the fibreglass body reflecting the beams but the top ear of the spinners, both moving forwards and spinning forwards. A few got away with it before this imaginative theory was disproved.

I could feel the CLOG vibes at Jodrell ....at least I think that's what it was

Cameras are a total pain. The village we stayed at had three sets along the length of the main street and you do find youself watching the speedo rather than the road.

I've only just seen this thread. I actually think I saw your car near Jodrell Bank- does the reg end in J? Or was it some other yellow white interloper?
I was driving in the other direction and I've long since given up waving at Elans when I'm not in mine!

Hi Pete, Nope not us, our Little'un is a 69G.

Yes, I get excited and wave then realise I'm in the Skoda

Further to my being photographed on the Cat and Fiddle there`s a lovely piece of irony in that, next Thurday, I have to go to Winsford for a speed awareness course. This is most convenient as it`s on the way to Anglesey where I`m doing a track day the next day.

...bogi... - so: if it werrent thee, who pleads guilty to conducting an unknown yellow/white "J" car Southerly along the main road to Holmes Chapel?

I've always felt that on a rainy day, the water in the top of the tyre reflects the radar beam, with it having passed clean through the fibreglass. The top of the tyre is of course travelling forward at twice the road speed of the car. At least I presumed that's what happened when a speed camera flashed at me one rainy evening in the 80's when I'm sure I was doing less than 30 mph. Fortunately they didn't follow up on that one, maybe no film in the camera.
