well Ray Im sorry you were scammed .There was a day when people were good as their word and kids could play safely outside , sadly we have allowed that time to pass when the left wingers got control with all the political correctness and the soft approach to criminal actions . I hope you get your money back or the car or send the bastard some plastique in a parcel . ed

John,
In this thread it is four nations with England, Australia, Canada and the US in the scrum. Off to other matters!

Hi Ray, if my comments offended you in any way, I am sorry and I apologize. I thought you would respond or at least PM me concerning my accusatory remarks. I still wonder if you're real, I thought by now you'd respond to this crescendo.
We're actually a caring group of guys.
Sincerely,
Eric

Ok, back to the sheep jokes....
NZ has 4 million people and 40 million sheep, which is why Billy Connolly described us as a "pervert's paradise".

When I was sitting the practical for my license and the examiner asked me if I could "make a u turn", my response was " mate, I could make her eyes water...."

All down hill from here..... :)

Cheers
Ralph.

You've forgotten Ireland, Scotland and Wales. If you're using the word scrum how can you leave out New Zealand?!

Sorry to hear about this fraud.
a similar thing happened to me recently when a friend contacted me to purchase an engine for him that he had seen on Craigslist in London.
Price 1750 quid for an incomplete engine. The guy is called NEIL CONSTANTINES (Stear clear) from Arbroath in Scotland who told me that we could only liase through e mails due to a maxillo facial operation from which he was unable to speak for several weeks therefore even if he did give me his phone number it would be useless.
All the other details seemed to be convincing and I proceeded with the transaction to only find that the engine to date has not arrived and he has disappeared.

The police are on to the case which apparently has been transferred from Arbroath to Luton where they assume he operates from.
Take note of this guys name and do not deal with him.

They even capitalized the word - a true smear on the legendary Lotus reliability, I sez!

To all who sent a comment.

Thanks to bilcoh, vernon.taylor, elanfan1, Vaughan, RogerFrench, Carlos A, jimj, persiflage, twincamman and gino1 for your encouraging posts.

PanoGuy on prices. I had just inspected a red +2 in good condition, asking price 10.000 euro in Holland. At the moment asking prices over here are appr. 12.000 euros for S2?s in drivable condition. So maybe 7200 was a bit low.

Carlos A on suing EKM. I asked the London Chamber of Commerce to look into EKM. They discovered that this company does not exist. Besides the fact that the cheapest lawyer costs about 150 euros per hour making more costs is not a wise step. I expect London lawyers ask more than that. I contacted London Police and got this answer.

"Your report of fraud has been assessed by a police officer. It has been determined that the circumstances do not amount to an offence in the City of London Police Force area nor is the matter suitable for investigation as a ?Lead Force? case. In light of this decision I recommend you report this fraud to Action Fraud by telephoning the Action Fraud call centre on 0300 123 2040 or by completing the Web Reporting template at www.actionfraud.org.uk.

I have already reported to actionfraud but no answer yet.

I don?t understand why the police don?t take action because I have also mentioned the Barclays Bank at Kenton Park Parade branch, London, and the account number of EKM. I now understand that this bank is the host of many fraudulent transactions.
See: http://www.opgelichtopinternet.nl/cgi-b ... 3850805/97
How does a fraudulent company without any company number get an account anyway at such a well-known bank?

As to Eric, 1964S1.
No I am not a fraud. Why would I expose a scam and warn people if I had something to do with this scam. Wouldn?t I keep it secret just to earn more money by going on with the scam? Before I bought the car I looked on Lotuselan.Net to see if this car could be part of a scam, but there were no posts on car fraud. I have been interested in Elans ever since I read an article in the December 1994 issue of Practical Classics (UK). The July 2011 issue of Classic & Sports Car (UK) had also an article about an Elan. This was the moment that I decided to go and look for one.
From 1972 on I have owned many British sportscars and even raced them in international (Europe) Historic racing events. I have owned Austin Healey, frogeye and 3000, Jaguar E-types and XK-140?s, Reliant Scimitars, TVR Grantura, MGA an MGB?s, many Triumph?s and two Mallock U2?s. The Elan would have been new to me, hence that you have not heard from me before.

I really thought that this forum could be of any assistance. This car of which you now know its numbers etc. must be a known car to one of the (European) forum members. The car must have been for sale in the past twenty years (it came to Europe from the USA in 1995), it must have been driven somewhere in the world, it must have been into a garage, it must have been restored some time, parts must have been bought, it must have been at club events. It must have been advertised on the net or in a car magazine.
Among your forum people must be a whiz kid on computers. EKM has a website. Where is it based and what connection do they have with Doblhofer the ?seller?. Maybe it is very na?ve of me to think that someone could help in these ways. I mean club events and computer.
I don?t use a pseudonym, my real name is Ray!

Regards, Ray

Nope, not an attorney.

But I actually meant to type "As Far As I Can Tell" & typo-ed that .:D

This information was obtained using the "Sam Spade" tool, normally obtainable from http://www.samspade.org (but not working today). I think it can be used from: http://www.petri.co.il/sam_spade_tools.htm

Sad to say in retrospect, I would usually do at least basic tests like these WHO-IS functions before sending a lot of money to a supposed transport/escrow firm and that info above on the owners & hosting would definitely have made me suspicious. The front page of the website says they have been in business for 10 years, yet the web domain was only registered in March this year ! Were they not on the web before that ????
