Expert Knowledge Alert....

At the VSCC Cheshire Concours this evening two Aston Martin DB6s turned up; the DHC left his parking lights on and I could clearly see the deflector thingies were ABOVE the lamps, deflecting the light downwards, or more probably, shielding the glare from anyone looking down at them.

What about the glare reflected in the chrome bumper below the lamp........

May I refer you to Maxwell's equations for a definitive answer?

Here is a photo from the Hubble telescope.

Well it would be pointless to shine the light outward on the Aston, the indicator lens would obscure Lucas's all powerful sidelights, unlike the Elans where we get a good spread of light illuminating the side of the road so we can drive extremely fast along country lanes  ....Astons don't go that fast do they

No.....just can't see what a deceased newspaper tycoon and pension fund plunderer has to do with it - or did you mean the coffee magnate??

Anyway here's another image taken at a recent night rally of the AMOC and you can clearly see the effect of the light reflecting from the chrome bumpers. You will notice that the car on the left of the picture has it's side lights fitted the other way up too!

Has this been put to bed now?

Or will it raise it's head again (as a "side issue") ...in 2019! :)
