Somebody Buy this car!!

PostPost by: billwill » Tue Aug 02, 2011 10:47 am

I would be absolutely delighted to come across a one owner 5000 miles from new Elan that's been tucked away for 40 years! Certainly isn't a shame, but an absolute delight for the next generation. It's like calling the customers of Capability Brown's gardens and parks selfish for not having a garden that they can enjoy, but instead have something that can only be appreciated 100 years after their death!

Mayhap, but to me buying a new Elan in the 60's and not using it seems a bit like getting married & never making love, or only once a year on Birthdays.

So, everybody, what car would you buy today and put away in a cocoon for 40 years for the benefit of future generations?

I like it!

But I saw an amphibious car on 'hydrofoils' on the telly, can you make it one of those instead; it went MUCH faster than an Amphicar.

This certainly has drifted from the original point of the post which was to alert the faithful to a good Elan for a friend looking for one, hasn't it?

Ah, well if you wanted it to be a boring topic, perhaps you should have put it in the For Sale section, like the others.

Yes and I'm sure it did alert people to the car for sale but I think the thread has run its course, its only natural to get "thread drift" particularly when the thread has become stale.
I personally don't think "thread drift" is a bad thing but if you feel you want to keep it on a "high priority" then you can always "bump up" your original post.
What else would you like people to say about the original "car for sale" :?: ?

A friend of mine offered to buy it at the asking price and it had already been sold! The guy was bombarded with emails and offers on the first day of advertising on B.A.T..

The drift was immediate , which is good for keeping nice low mileage S1 elans here - now back to more interesting topics like Cummins 4B transplants into Plus 2's
