Dean - Cool, which model? by the way if not top secret what part of the world are you?
The one on the wall is a Rob Roy (29lb.) modified to 13.5 ft for two (light) people, fine for two but I put too much rocker in it for just one so all over the place. Then I built a 10.5 ft of my own design adaptation, paddles great and only 19 lb.
Too bad there isn't a 7 site like this one....maybe Jeff could add an Other Loti section....
oops not exactly Elan info

We (the married we not the royal we) have a 1967 Elan SE FHC series 3 which I bought as a drivable junk in 1979 or 1980. Over the years I drive it a bit, fix it a bit, drive it a bit more then let it sit for quite a while. It is being slowly resurected. The remaining big jobs are rebuilding the brake calipers, installing CV joints, cleaning the fuel tank and a new stearing rack. I hope to get it running by the end of the month. It will be used as a weekend carIt looks good from 10' or 20' away.

The Seven is a 1958 series 1 currently sporting a BMC-A engine. It looks pretty good but I am hoping to do a full restoration including returning to the Ford 1172cc side valve. It is used mostly as a show car shows as my wife can't lift herself out of the car due to bad sholders and the hot exhaust being on the passinger side. The car, or the kit, was origionally delivered to an English owner.

The canoe is a 16' Old Town design made out of clear pine with a bit of lauan for trim. The covering is a combination of fiberglass cloth and dynel (sp). It is very heavy as I didn't know much about building canoes and intended to have a sailing rig for it. It took me about a year to build. I think that it was completed in 1983. It also needs some work, mostly refinishing the exterior, something of a problem since I need to find a resin that is compatable to "crystal casting" resin. That was the clear resin befor the current crop of epoxies. I haven't used it in years, partly because it is too difficult to take down and place on the car... and partly due to tennis elbow due to my attempt at building a 14' dugout canoe from the pine tree that was in our back yard.

We also have a 1991 Elan. We have put about 70,000 miles on it since we purchased it in 1998. The AC makes it much more usable in our area.

We live in Newport News, Virginia, USA and both work for the local shipyard.

What is the story with you and your cars
