Bugger of a time getting the old girl to fire up I drained about a cup of water from the tank. Tomorrow will clean the carbs out and hope To get a drive in the warm 50 degree summer weather . Ed

Light aircraft (eg cessna / piper etc) have a fitting in the bottom of the tank(s); in the walkaround you take a small cup with a nail thing that is mounted straight upin it (gascollator) and put it into the fitting to drain a bit of fuel to check for water (and gas colour). Planes of course sit outside with partially filled tanks (and less frequent use) so condensation is expected. It would be a good idea for low use cars.
They also sometimes have a push fitting for draining the oil, just push the fitting up and the oil comes gushing out. Hey, if it works on aircraft reliably, why not on cars?

If you have a bad case of water in the fuel, the only solution to get rid of it is tank
removal and clean.... I good trick also is to pour in two cups of metho (methylated spirits)
you know the stuff the brown baggers love... into the tank.. the metho (Alcohol) absorbs small amounts
of water and then it passes though the system with out stuffing up the carbs, that's
what I do to keep water out of the fuel.
