Happy New Year Ed. I kept the pot stirred while you were away.

Unfortunately I have no idea about your brake question.

Ed,
There are probably quite a few pad composition options. Girling ARs were standard fitment on the Series 1 Elite. The original Girling number is GBB49221, superseded by 64325971 according to the parts cross reference appendix in Dennis Ortenburger's "Lotus Elite - Racing Car for the Road", 2002. I have a set of Pagid Blue for the ARs on my Elite, Pagid #ERS0049610. I got these from David Mousley of Type 14 Components in the UK. In the States you could try Hutton Motor Engineering in Tennessee, 931-648-1119, Bill Hutton. I am sure Dave Bean would have something as well as Chapman Racing:

Ed,

Keep looking and you should find them closer to $160 I think. I was getting them from Truechoice until they changed ownership and the prices went through the roof. I've used several grades of the KFP Power Pads. I always used the Gold or blue on my Eleven but found I needed to go to the softer black ones on my Formula Jr. I believe the number you want will end in 504, such as KFP5504. I would think on the Elan you'll want a bit harder pad. If you are used to old DS11 compound, the newer carbon pads will astound you.
