Hi all, don't know whether anyone is interested but I had to tell someone, I had a S4 which I rebuilt and kept for 10 years travelling all over Europe having sold it 2 years ago missed it terribly. So new project build an elan not concours but trying to remedy all the bits I wasn't happy with. So S3 1/2 has Spyder chassis, Vegantune engine, will have 6 speed sequential box, LSD, solid drive shafts and that's so far. Its a really interesting project! My first comment on this site and not sure if I can upload photos maybe someone can advise.

Greating? Greeting? OK English is not your first language; irony is not readily understood either. Evidently. Are you from North America?
Suggest that the original poster concocts a Subaru WRX STi thingy and fits an eight-speed gearbox before dropping an Elan S3 body on the top and asking us what we think; perhaps there is an EVO forum somewhere which would be better-suited?
btw; my Elan is far from how it stuttered out of the factory, but.....

We may not understand irony, but we do recognize arrogance.
There are plenty of other heavily modified cars here, perhaps you could direct your scorn at them and give the newbies a chance? Just a thought.

In Elansprint`s defence, and speaking as someone who`s (what I think of as) wryness is sometimes mistaken for ignorance; Pete is a top bloke, a proper enthusiast, and all round good egg, though on this occasion his humour may have strayed.

Pete Taylor's "welcome" to elan6speed is just bad manners. If he is a gentleman he will apologise.

I am not sure this is the place to get into manors of folks that participate on this forum but seeing others have had a comment or two, Oh what the hell...
Pete has been a member for a long time on this forum and before on the Yahoo group. He has offered much advice and posted a lot of his photographic work. Like many others he give a bit (a lot?) of his time to make this forum what it is. Not many of the folks that give a portion of their life to help others will not get a lot back from it, it seems at times, that Thank You has left the planet. I think we all know that when you help somebody they do appreciate it, Its just hard to read between the lines on this forum. What sometimes seems like a good ribbing to some is often taken in the wrong way. The consequences are sometimes not what were planed or expected, take a look at the following post.
elan-plus-f13/handling-bit-iffy-t12325.html
The last word in the topic is Bye.
Its the last post from Keith Franks, probably not what folks were expecting but some of it may have been a bit of a difference in what you can say to someone sitting next to you at a table and what you can't infer over the Internet.
I don't know much about folks and there manors and I am not one to say what?s socially correct but sometimes folks need to be a bit more tolerant as there is no facial expression to let folks know what it is that you mean. Besides there are no consequences for being rude and obnoxious here other than someone leaves and takes with them what ever it is they have to offer. Seems we loose more folks to them not getting respect, as we do to folks dying. I think we are all old enough to know that that will change and we will loose members from that all too soon. Lets not kill the baby on this and let?s get on to Elan's that brought us together in the first place.

p.s. - Hey Pete, nice photo of the engine bay!

I too say welcome with whatever you are doing with your Elan. You will get some grump's here n there who do not like ''Modifications''
Peter is normally quite forgiving so I am not sure what rubbed him up the wrong way. He is a gentleman but he is also entitled to his views.
My advice would be to live n let live. As I am always saying, to each their own.
Why post something to intentionally upset and annoy? That's not what we do. We have a new person posting here. Why not give him a break and listen to what he has to say.
Welcome to this very wonderful forum. You will get the help you need. Don't go away!!
Happy new year everyone...
