PART NUMBER DATABASE

When I first got my westfield many years ago, I started an excel spreadsheet. Whenever I found out an alternative part number/ vehicle/ cheaper source for parts I would put the details on it to help fellow owners. I passed it round to various people and we kept updating it.

With all the useful information here I wondered if anyone had done a similar list? If there's one on here and I've missed it I apologise for being dense.....

I know the things in common section sort of touches on it, but I mean a list with alternative vehicles & suppliers that the parts could be sourced from, ie mini headlamp surrounds from minisport, doorhandles from mgb etc.

If there isn't one already I think it'd be a good thing to start one. Whadayathink?

Cheers,
Mark.

Thats an excellent idea Mark. I wish you luck with getting it up and running..It will be very useful. Try and see it through.

I tried once to start a tool-share scheme. If fell on deaf ears & all I was trying to do was loan out some tools.... :?

Ah Well!

Alex.......

Hi Alex,

I don't mind starting one, just with being a novice to elans I'll need some input from the more ahem, "mature" members.....

Any suggestions for starters?

Cheers,
Mark.

Mark

Pages 199 to 226 of "Authentic Lotus Elan & Plus2" by Robinshaw and Ross is a good place to start and also try the GGLOC "Golden Gate Lotus Owners Club" I believe they have a sort of list.

Thanks John,

That's a pretty comprehensive list, think I'll just add a few of my own as I go along for future reference.....

Cheers,
Mark.

I have a couple of old LDC and Club Lotus sheets on this subject somewhere in my files which I can let you have. There is also additional info on this forum, such as interior mirror donor cars etc

elan-f14/parts-cross-reference-panel-light-rheostat-t21177.html

A search on this site for "part cross reference" gets quite a few results - it might be useful for someone to trawl through them at some point.

A good book for equivalent parts manufacturers and part numbers is "The original Lotus Elan 1962- 1973" by Paul Robinshaw and Christopher Ross

ISBN 0 - 947981 - 32 - 2

Worth a look. I have found it invaluable in some areas.

Does anyone know of a cross reference to Ford Finis code numbers for engine parts? I'm sure there are probably a few items (seals, gaskets etc.) still around at Ford dealerships, but they seem reluctant to make the effort to look for anything over 10 years old. Presenting them with the Finis Code would make things easier.

I have just emailed you an excel spreadsheet of all the Elan parts and cross referenced prices from Paul Matty's. I am thinking of inserting the prices from all the sources I can find.
