Brian Buckland's Book

Anyone know whether it's still available anywhere? If not, any plans for a second printing or a publication via PDF? Or, if anyone knows how to contact the author, I'd be happy to inquire directly.

This book appears well-respected, but it came and (apparently) went while I was on my hiatus from Elan twiddling.

I see on the LOG thread Frank posted the author is attending. Perhaps some of the attendees can find out NA availability from the author? I had no luck finding the book either, but it does appear to be highly regarded.

That would be great. Wrong side of the country for me, unfortunately.

If he's interested in an ePub version, I could probably hook him up with the right people here. I'm sure he could easily have it done in the UK as well.

I got mine not so long ago from Club Lotus. You order through them but it comes directly from the author, they don't appear to hold them in stock (or didn't when I ordered). They also had it at the Lotus show in April at a substantial discount. I believe the book is printed on demand, so as long as Mr. Buckland is willing he can keep up the supply. It is a fantastic book and has helped me greatly over the last year.

Regards,
Adi

Also bought mine via Club Lotus (01362 694459), although it was then sent directly from Brian. Useful Emails:

annemarie A T clublotus.co.uk
Brian himself is at elanman A T blueyonder.co.uk

Great book when used in conjunction with both workshop manual and Miles Wilkins' bible.

Fantastic book - and I have the luck to live quite close to the Guru. He sells the book from home - contact elanman a t blueyonder.co.uk

It has all the detail you will need as long as you also have the original workshop manual to run alongside.

Don't grow up too quickly...................

Unless you want AnneMarie and Brian, VERY VERY CROSS with you two I suggest you hastily edit those messages above so that the email address are not so explicit. For instance replace the @ sign with: space A T Space.

Because otherwise since this is an open forum, the spammers' email-address-gleaner-robots WILL find those addresses and they WILL get added to lists that get sold and Annemarie and Brian WILL get lots more spam in due course.

Does anyone know how much the book is going for these days?

?50 plus postage, but this includes VAT, so if ordering from outside of EC you should be able to get it for around ?43. It's quite a big heavy thing so postage to the US might be pricey.

I know some US sellers were carrying it a while ago but for triple the price.

My mother is visiting us (in the UK) from Chicago at the end of September, I am sure she'd be happy to carry a book or two back and mail them from there, if anyone wants. This won't save the VAT though, but will save on postage...

I will also be going to Los Angeles towards the end of the year, so if anyone would like something, not hard to carry in a bag, which might save you the trouble and some money, I'll be happy to bring it and post it from there. Obviously, both in my mom's and my case, the size/weight should be kept reasonable, but I'd be very happy to help out fellow Elan people as long as you pay for the items and the postage within the US. Looking at parts prices for the Elan in the US made me slightly ill so I really feel for and admire you.

Regards,
Adi

When I was looking a while ago all the NA suppliers of the book were out of stock, regardless of cost. The Club Lotus link asks for a phone call for overseas orders, which is a bit cumbersome. Ideally someone selling them to NA by 'net/email that takes PayPal would be great. Perhaps Mr. Buckland can accomodate direct sales; thanks for the contact info. Wish I could make it to LOG and see about picking one up, but will be in Oregon then.

Cheers!

Well, the shameless reason I asked about price is I have one for sale, absolutely new condition if someone is willing to pay the price.

I purchased it from Brian early in publication and paid 65 pounds plus 35 pounds to ship it. The exchange rate was worse for the states then, so I ended up paying $188 USD for it. It is very nice, color printed on coated paper.

If someone in the states or Canada wants to give me $165 USD I'll ship it to you via US mail.
