Dusty that is true but compared to some of the other cars they have done they only make ?500 to ?1000 without labour they would be loosing money & they did not seem to do much to the elan.

Anyone unable to access the TV channels to watch Wheeler Dealers may be interested to know that it has now been posted on YouTube, in 4 parts. Search using "Elan Wheeler Dealers" and you will find it. As has been commented on, the car featured was quite a mongrel, what we used to call a "cut and shut"?
Interestingly I put the car's registration number, RBB 23F into the DVLA vehicle enquiry website, and the number was not recognised. Perhaps Wheeler Dealers put false plates on cars featured to protect the innocent!

I wondered that too so I searched for the Alfa Spyder that they revisited last night and it was registered on the DVLA database. Maybe I should check some of the others!

Just watched it! (as have man flu at present)
Shame about the gel coat repairs but I wonder what that "special" all flexing , all sticking , all everything filler was?
Also I thought Sue didn't recommend her drive shafts on non standard engines 150bhp+?
My youngest said at the sight of Sue Millers place, "We went there, is it in France or England? (well she is 7!)
Other than that, very very enjoyable :D

Looked up the registration on www.mycarcheck.com and it gives the car as a Lotus Elan (Coupe)... So at least that much is true - you have to pay to get more details :-)

I think they've been pretty much tested now. They are certainly better than the Wriggleys couplings sold nowadays :D

I was a bit alarmed to see the state of the ones taken off the car particularly considering how he was driving it ..... driveshaft suppositories spring to mind

Hi all,

Thanks to Christian and everyone else for the links to the episode of Wheeler dealers, I laughed and cringed in equal measures. I hope that the guys from SMS or Option 1 were taking note that it only costs ?2300 to paint an Elan properly And I don't want to hear any rot from those guys about needing to go back to gel coat all over and make repairs to star cracks by grinding back to the matting and repairing with fibreglass tissue and resin therefore curing the problem, before using any body filler, this method is obviously over the top and a few layers of existing paint should hold the car together better anyway. Also anyone who has contributed to the which driveshafts are best threads should take note that Mike Brewer and Ed China think that rotoflexes are rubbish, they are obvious experts.

I enjoyed watching this so much that I tracked down a good quality bit torrent of the episode and have converted it to DVD, so if anyone would like a copy just email me [email protected]
Cost ?1.00 to uk ?1.65 europe ?2.50 USA ------- there is totally no profit in this, just covering the cost of postage and the blank disc. You can pay me direct by paypal, or I can email you a paypal invoice and you can pay with your debit or credit card.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to buy a used car from either of them, especially Mike "Del Boy" "I'll give you a monkey for it " Brewer.
