Suprising Info !!!!

Hello Archives,
Good luck trying to identify a total number of anything when it comes to our Elans.

FWIW I coincidentally just came across my old file on two UK registered Elans. I imported them from the UK to the USA in 1977. 650 pounds each (!)
Chassis numbers according to Welling Sports Cars, 159 Upper Wickham Lane in Welling Kent were
1966 Elan, 36/6489
1967 Elan, 45/6006

I need to start their own thread now to see if the owners are here. I have some paperwork they'd like to have.

Did Lotus sneak any Elans over here in the jets that brought the Indy cars?

Interesting! Please tell me more about 6006. I started looking this morning for info on the RHD Elan I owned for about 6 years, culminating in my selling it to a fellow who lived in Texas. I know I have records of this car so I can make a positive ID if it was my car. The Texas fellow was over here to run a branch office of a UK company and has since returned to the other side of the pond with the car. I believe Chris follows this web site but does not actively participate.

Eric,

Just found the photocopy of the title for that car and it was 6006. John Stover told me he bought it from an importer. He never finished the car. It sat in his garage and fuel became rancid.

Yes, I sold that to John Stover, a red DHC.

Richard

I believe the genuine article is very rare. Good luck.

Yes, very rare. Mine went up in smoke when my car did.

The same thing is true with the other LA area dealers of the '50s, '60s.
