When I purchased my 66 Elan coupe, I was glued to Jim's site and learned much about the restoration, repairs and improvements that could be added. On Jim's map for my area of Northern CA. There are several Elans, that I know about, that are not showing on the map. Maybe they just did not list their location when registering.
Again it is a great site and even better to see pictures.

Part of the problem is the URL has changed over the years. In early 2010 I moved to the registry to http://www.elanregistry.org/ and will keep in there. I'll put some redirects on the old URL's.

562 Elan and Plus2 cars now registered at Jim's Elan Registry. I see there are a few doubles and now thats its been around for a while it shows some sales data with 2 owners of the same car. In early October 2009 Jims registry had 232 S1 - Sprint registered. As of today the percentage of types is as follows

Type 26 162
Type 36 115
Type 45 149
Type 50 136

In less than 2 years, with the Plus2 added 330 Lotus cars have surfaced and I hope more will continue to appear out of garages, fields, barns, side yards, driveways, sheds ponds and anywhere else. My friend Willy bought one years ago that was deep in pond scum, he sold it on to someone, it must be still around somewhere?

I was reading Pete's reply to the Club Lotus topic in Left side of the pond
right-side-pond-f28/club-lotus-t24786-15.html
and it got me wondering. So I had a look at Jim's Unibrain Registry and there are now 604 type 26, 36, 45 and 50 now registered out of a total of of around 13,500. Thats up from 232 when this topic was started on Oct 06, 2009 and the Plus 2 is now part of those numbers too. the number break out as
26 167
36 128
45 163
50 146
I think that there may be a couple of duplicates but that is a hefty increase in "known" cars which I think was the intent of the registry was to answer that question. I don't know how many run or are road registered and driven but I guess that you need to start some place. Vic's comment to Pete of "Why would you need another" is a valid point, I am not sure what a second one would accomplish but The HLR requires some sort of proof that the car you say you have is indeed a legitimate type and that the numbers match what you say they are. My guess is If you wanted the value of you Lotus to go up, having it be recognized by an organization like the LCR could/may/would do that. Jim's Elan registry is purely a love of the Elan effort and does what it was intended to do. If all you want to do is DRIVE your Elan than Jim's efforts is probably the best for all concerned.

I'm still here too!

I have fun with the Stats page and find the map a lot of fun. The lone pins that stand out on the map are in Puerto Rico, South Africa and Hawaii and Hong Kong.

There are 2 new entries in the last 15 days
There are 7 new entries in the last 30 days
There are 8 new entries in the last 45 days
There are 14 new entries in the last 90 days
There are 33 new entries in the last 180 days
There are 93 new entries in the last 365 days

Gary,
The link you have in the first post of this thread does not work; could you delete it and replace with http://www.elanregistry.org/ which Jim seems to use these days?

According to the linked stats page there is only one 26/R but checking thro' the list there are actually 6 or 7 (one car being claimed by two people  ).

Edit: thanks Gary.

This reply may be akin to beating a dead horse but thats never stopped me before now has it?

Total Elan=469
26 168
36 131
45 170

Total Plus 2 = 153

Series Count
26R 1

Elan 1500 1
S1 61

S2 99
S2 SE 3

S3 86
S3 SE 35

S4 57
S4 SE 59

Sprint 67

+2 60

+2S 26
+2S/130 35
+2S/130/5 32

Not a lot of activity but sometimes that just the way things work, with the price of Elans and the plus 2 moving in the right direction this may indicate that the totals are really as low as the stats indicate. If you haven't added your prize please stand up and be counted, Mine are mostly listed except for the bitsa's!

I seem to have missed that one when it was entered. I get A LOT of spam accounts but assume if you go to the trouble of entering a car that it is real. I wonder who Santa is?
