I'm speechless...

(I know there was an event that Graham Hill describes in his book, "Life at the Limit," where he paraded on the tables at a motoring dinner event and fell... a broken wine glass stem then imbeded itself in his leg. Unless there was more than one instance of Mr. Hill on tabletop parade, I'm assuming it was this one.)

The menu at Pub Lotus looks interesting:

Apple 'Nurburgring' (sauerkraut, apple, frankfurters and diced pork)
Beef 'Spa' (sauted beef, button onions, celery, tomato and rose wine)
Beef 'Zandvoort' (minced beef, onion, mushrooms, topped with potato and gouda cheese)

And all priced at in 6/- or 30 np

The geezer in the middle looks like Keith Duckworth.

Yes I think you're right.

Oh & I think I've sorted the cloggie bit.
Means that Graham Hill joined the Cheshire Lotus Owners Group.
Well sort of

Cheers

When I was in London last year, I sought out the former location of the Steering Wheel Club on Curzon Street. I think this building was it, but does anyone know for sure?

Thanks,

Hi Gary

I am not 100% sure but I dont think the picture is of Pub Lotus. Pub Lotus was formerly the Chalk Farm Tavern, 89, Regents Park Road LOndon NW1 a short distance from Chalk Farm station. I have not been to that part of London for many years so I have no idea what it looks like now.

I would imagine the address still holds maybe punching it into a satnav might give a location ( I dont have a sat nav still use maps) The road is still on my London A2Z atlas though.

perhaps someone in the location could have a look and photo it now?

cheers

Bob

Thanks, but the picture I posted above I think was the site of the Steering Wheel Club on Curzon Street (I'm not entirely sure), but I am definitely interested in learning the current location of what was Pub Lotus as well. I'll try the Google street view too.

Thank you,

Guys check out the BBC2 report of the time that is reproduced on the Lotus Seven report on page 1 of this thread.
I would accept the address given there as being accurate & correct, as were the BBC "back in the good old days"

My dim recollection of my one fleeting visit to "Pub Lotus" wa that from the outside it looked just like a 60's/70's shop front but with the lower part of the window having the "sand blasted" no see through finish common to British Pubs.
A quite uninspiring exterior!
Oh & the beer was cr-p

Here's 89, Regents Park Road on Google Earth. Former street address for Pub Lotus, now Lemonia. Looks respectable. I can't quite make out the posted menu. :)
