I've just had a look at this and found my car. If there is a single "LC" invoice recorded rather than two separate invoices, I guess this means that it was sold as a fully built car and not a kit?

I think I'll go out on a limb here and say that the bourne bodies alway had a at least one zero preceding its digits on the 26/xxxx tag.

It would seem from the six pages of Lotus records posted in this topic 438 is the highest body number recorded (with this limited data), after that the body numbers seem to be 3xxx which I would guess are the first of the bodies made by Lotus at Cheshunt factory. Thank you James for taking the time to post the page from lotus reacords. You have helped me and I think Eric will have a nice copy for his records.

Hi George

They may end up in that thread too but this topic didn't seem like it was finished and needed some more views. I was hoping that the originator may come back and tell us more of what he has learned to help clue in the rest of us.

gee if you bought it and put a little time -some new headers and a fresh body the price isnt bad ---the chassis and suspension and motor are almost worth the price --[ and then theres the 'race history' ]-ed

Don't worry about the flares, look at the exhaust manifold going over the master cylinders. There has been some attempt at heat shielding but the radiative flux from the manifold to the brake master reservoir is frightening to consider.

The real artistry in the fabrication done here is the method for attaching the cherry bomb to the LDS rocker pannel  . I image 10 beers into the design session the dialog ended with lets make look like a Cobra !

Are we sure all Bourne bodied cars were in grey gelcoat? I have a photo from an early car body # 26/0135 that does not appear to have grey gelcoat. Comments please.

Here's an example of a yellow Elan with the body plate on top of yellow and this was taken from the Bourne Plastics site.

As an additional data point, my body #0170 definitely has grey gelcoat.

Are the wheel arches and trans tunnel area on your car also in the brown color?

Note to "new" members...

Quite a bit has happened on the forum since this thread started, more than a few myths have been busted, egos deflated and truths unearthed.... or buried.

Several "Oracles and Gurus" have come and gone.
