4x4 Elan

Now this is just for fun, so please don't shoot me down in flames just yet.

We live in a age of interesting lateral thinking. Monster garage and all that. And I'm sure we have all read the article many years ago when a group of Japanese Europa nuts converted an unused old Europa body into a speed boat.

What if...

Take a crapped out inexpensive baby Elan body and place it on a Suzuki 4X4 Jimny chassis. The wleebases are within an inch or two. If it is finished well it should look the part. In yellow I would imagine with decent chrome 17 inch wheels! Maybe someone with more time on there hands could pop something up in Photoshop.

I can only imagine the faces of the crowd at a large Lotus gathering.

There again I must finish the first project before my "scrapheap challenge" brain gets into gear.

Happy thinking.

Brian

Does a Suzuki 4 x 4 have a chassis? Unibodies fold without the body. I'm not giving up however...

One of my British car comrades here in Redding, CA has a setup as you have described, but the body is an MG Midget. It draws alot of attention in this area where so many people have 4x4s. I assume it has a chassis, but don't know for sure.

Suzuki 410 and 413 have a seperate chassis and body , I know as I off road them .
Use a 413 Samuri as the wheel track is 3" wider so would look the better , in my opinion , but then I would not want to build it !
