How do you tell a Sprint is a Sprint and not an S4(SE)?

No Chris, there is no definitive date. In fact at one time my belief is that there were S4s going down the line at the same time as Sprints; probably only for a few days!

However, it is clear that one can not say any 1971 built Elan is a Sprint.

So my 69 Stromberg S4 federal is a Sprint? :wink:

Lotus don't seem to make any sense at times, you would think that if there converting S4's to Sprint spec because there not selling some one would stop producing them. Maybe the S4's being built where not SE spec?? Ah well not the craziest thing i've seen Lotus do but there isn't much sense to it.

A number of Sprints had bonnets with the Stromberg bulge.
A friend had one from new, fairly sure K reg Red monotone FHC and that certainly had the bulge.
