Perpetual Motion machine?

The largest wire charges the battery. Are your other two wires colored the same as mine, (brown/yellow and brown/green) and where do they go on your car? After rewiring at the firewall and fusebox (after some original wiring and my fusebox melted) my engine starts, but won't turn off after turning off the ignition key. I have already ascertained that the ignition switch is not at fault. The alternator is apparently keeping the engine running after the engine should turn off. It won't stop until I pull the main wire off of the coil! I have obviously rewired something wrong, and the Elan S4 wiring diagram is "less than an accurate representation" of how I believe my Sprint was wired when I bought it 20 years ago.

Gary,

You are correct in saying that the largest wire charges the battery. It goes to the battery side of the solenoid.

The brown/yellow wire goes to the ignition warning light. The brown/green wire gets 12V from the side of the fuse box that is powered when the key is on.

Thanks again Frank. I'm working my run-on problem two ways to the center from the ignition switch and the alternator at the same time. Somewhere in the middle lies the problem... I hope.

Try reversing the brown/yellow and brown/green?
