When I took ownership of my 1971 Sprint there were only trumpets on there with some mesh.
I was strongly advised by one of the Dutch specialists to install the airbox and put a K&N filter in front of the engine bay.
His argument was that the carb's can back fire occasionally and that polyester and fire don't mix too well. The airbox however is a bit more flameproof than the bodyshell so it could inhibit an engine fire.

I've a nice shiny K&N, mount and flexible pipe courtesy of Cliveyboy. Hand delivered as well ... now there's good service!
Anyone know where I can get one of the enlarged airboxes? Mine has been manually enlarged by the PO, but is a bit of a mess. I think I saw one of e-bay last week, but can't find it anymore!
The back plate is also a bit manky. Are they availble? I know PM list them, but haven't called to see if they have stock.
Cheers,
James

I got a deepened airbox from [email protected] on Ebay. The listing is too old to show, and I have not seen him relist any more, but it might be worth it to contact him.

I spent quite a while looking into getting kids seats for the back of the +2 when the new laws came in...
Firstly, the comments from the DOT was that I could not fit a child seat unless the manufacturer confirmed it was suitable for a +2.
secondly, it would be fine to haev teh children "loose" in the back... "yer right!
I contacted a number of seat manufacturers that were suggested by the DOT. But all were not interested.
In the end I stuck with the Spyder rear seat belt system and 4 point harnesses. These seem to stop the kids (4yo and 6yo) and seem more secure than the recoil ones in the front!

Looks like you're just in time

Hmmm, it's actually beginning to look like I was just in time for a lemon. Thus far I've not received the airbox, and the seller is not responding to emails.
The last two feedback comments for the seller were both negative - one item they were buying not paid for, one item they were selling not sent.
Pants. I've not had any disputes on eBay before ...

Get yourself down to Stoneleigh this Sunday then call in at the DIY shop on the way back and armed with a hacksaw and a pack of fibreglass should keep you busy for a day (or two)....

I believe the air filter housing was as used on the Ford Zephyr Mk II, the Sunbeam Rapier and the Vauxhall Cresta and Viscount.

PS Just realised I'm getting my airbox and air filter housings muddled up - no excuse, just old age!
