All,

My DHC S3 Elan (I hope that is politically correct) gets called various things, the other day while knocking out a wishbone bolt I accidently hit my finger, the Elan's parentage was called into question and the common name for ilegitimate was used to describe the S3 DHC, I recently broke a fixing bolt that attaches the timing chest to the block, another new name was used to describe the S3 DHC something to do with sex and ilegitimacy but even though I am tormented by this plastic vehicle made up of parts from various automotive manufacturers parts bins I have never called it a Baby.

There were 1396 Sprints produced. I have knowledge of 489 on the road at present, roughly 35% of production. There will be another what, say 250 odd that I do not know about, either on the road or in a garage/barn. So around 750 guestimated to be around still, some 55% of production?

Tim

But how reliable are your figures? You have mine listed as on the road but it is actually in my garage, because it is raining.

I guess it's likely that the survival numbers for earlier series would be much less than the estimated 50ish percent for Sprints?

But, even if we assume 50% that would mean too many Elans no longer exist.

Sorry Pete, when I checked on Google Street View your Sprint was out in your driveway, under that tree and next door to the hedge :P

Tim

PS What's that dripping from under your car?

I would suggest that if we use 26R numbers as a guide, then of the 1396 Sprints produced, there are only about 2786 left.
