S4 Gear lever gaiter locating plate

PostPost by: Philturn » Sat May 13, 2023 9:31 am

Am I right in thinking that the gearlever gaiter locates in a flat metal plate, that is in turn, screwed to the grp gearbox tunnel?
If so, does anyone know the dimensions of this plate?
Thank you, Phil.

Seniorchristo posted Feb 20 2018 with the dimensions you are after under body chassis frame, I think Phil Harrison has also posted dimensions, but cannot find his post.

Good luck with the search,

I don't remember mine ever being screwed in, although the holes are there. It just sits nicely between the transmission tunnel and the plastic tunnel cover.. Makes changing the gaiter every few years when it splits nice and easy..

I fitted mine today. Really worthwhile. Entire operation took half an hour. Riveted in place and silicon sealed. I realised that fitting the gaiter prior to installation was going to save a fiddly job later. The console simply sits over the plate and gaiter. The console no longer moved with each gear change.

Both cheap and satisfying.
