Has anyone successfully repaired the peg holes on the original steel wheels, the holes on one of my wheels are elongated? I haven' found any postings on the site.

I had oversize peg holes in my first set of wheels because someone had put studs in the hubs and nuts. Studs turned in hubs and they all had to be cut off. Who knows why some owners do these things but I made oversize drive pegs on a lathe and it worked fine until I got better wheels. I replaced three hubs with correct pegs but one still has my custom pegs and has worked fine for 7000 miles now. I know it is a work around to make your holes in the wheel round and then make oversize pegs, maybe stepped to preserve the hubs, just an idea. Gary

Why not drill new holes in between the old holes. Then get the old holes welded up.

That's an interesting thought Alan.

Saildrive,
I was in the process of enlarging the holes and fitting a bush to each hole to bring the holes back to standard size. As these things sometimes happen, I was able to buy some undamaged wheels so have not had the need to test my repair.
Hope this helps,
Richard Hawkins

Just FYI, Kelvedon are going to get new steel wheels produced "this Summer"(!). They had somebody already doing this but the deal fell through, they told me the steel used will be slightly thicker than original; the wheel centre they showed me looked really well done.
Cheers,
Pete.
