Hello to everybody. I am new here and I am from Germany, so that is the reason why my english is so terrible....

I am the new (proud) owner of the Lotus Elan S2 SE number 26/5447 RHD. (1966)

The car is running, but needs a restauration. I like to keep the car original. But I dont know, what is orignal...it is my first Lotus.

Does anybody know, which are the right books for me, with all the informations I need for a good restauration?

Thanks....
Uwe

Hi Uwe, welcome to the forum, Search the archives as there is plenty of info there including the recommended books but I would also suggest you also browse this site as its specifically for S1/2 (type 26 cars)
http://www.type26register.com/
and register your car with this site:

Brian Buckland's book 'The Rebuilding of a Lotus Elan' is probably your best starting point for a book....

http://www.club-lotus.co.uk/more.php?id=16&pageID=1

Followed by the workshop manual.

Tim will be loading up a lot more information on the Type 26 Register website over the next few weeks and months. In the meantime, if you put some photographs up here we can quickly tell you what is original and what is not, and show you photographs of original cars.

Hi Uwe, Welcome. Looks like we are starting on about the same project. Your 66 looks to be a bit older in comparing the numbers but who knows. Did you get the Lotus service manual with the car? I am not sure about eh EU but there are a couple places over the pond that sell just about everything you will need.

Hi Uwe,
welcome to the finest Elan forum, you got to the right place to ask anything regarding Elans.
And your English will get better ... obligatory ... or you will do little on your Elan. Anything on the Elan is in English...

Bucklands Book is the best, also you should check http://www.lotus-books.com/
there you find a good list of available Elan books.

Also, viel Spa? !

Hi,

I am living in Paderborn (it is in the middle of Germany, between Dotmund and Kassel) and no, I am not the same person like the Uwe in the BMW e30 forum.
And yes this is a great forum for the Lotus Elan, it helps me so much, when I am reading the old posts all about the Elans.
Here in Paderborn is nobody who is driving one. So this forum is only way for me to get any input...

cheers

Uwe

Well there you go.

I used to live in Celle and then in Herford, not too far away from Paderborn, Uwe. Mind you, it was a long while ago! :)
