Powder coating

Has anyone powder coated the differential?

Instead of painting various parts, I purchased a $60 powder coating
gun and a cheap oven. Actually, it works quite well and I'm ok with
coating and cooking various steel parts, but is it OK to cook the
cast iron and components of the differential at 400 degrees F. for 15
minutes (after removing the 3 seals)? I don't want to disassemble
the unit beyond removal of the seals, axle bearings and aluminum back
section.

Also, I'd like to coat the aluminum back section in clear. Will this
harm the piece at that temp.?

I've had the cast iron casing powder coated also but this was done
when I had the diff rebuilt so only the casting itself was coated.
Not sure that I'd be over keen on heating all the internal components
to that heat for that time ?, plus the guy i use for powder coating
always shot blasts the surface to be coated beforehand.

The aluminium part comes up well if shot/bead blasted and the given a
coat of two of clear automotive laquer.

Why don't you try epoxy paint; then there's no need for heat. Blast Clean, spray with a gravity feed gun. Bingo!
