Has anyone tried the Mallory dual point distributer for the 1600cc
Ford? Probably for the old Pinto motor.

I've used the Mallory dual point distributor (for Pinto 1600) for years. It's adaptable to the twin cam using the Pinto clamping ring (from a dismantling yard). It's simple, quality equipment with adjustable advance. Use the Mallory coil and ballast resister.
Check with Century Performance, Reno, NV.

Installed another new brand X rotor in the distributor and got less
then 30 minutes driving time in before it failed and the car sputtered
to a stop and would not restart. This time I had a new brand Y rotor
(Lucas DRB101C) with higher dielectric strength supposedly to install
along side the road and it refired immediately and I drove off merrily
to work. Called the brand X vendor to report the problems I've been
having and they claimed I'm the only one experiencing these problems.
Going to send the garbage rotors back to them along with a
recommendation they install them in their personal cars. I've been
told otherwise from a different single source that some folks in the
vintage racing circles are being burned by these defective rotors too.
Beware!

well, that's nice, but who is the brand X we should avoid? George
