Webber or Dellortos

It's an old question (I'm sure)
Has anyone any preferences?
I'm building the engine for my elan soon
and I would appreciate any advice about the relative merits of the two carb'
types.
Which ones drive best?

Paul,

I've got webers on my elan, and dellortos on my Europa, both engines are
around the same condition. I think the dellortos are easier to set up and a
bit smoother if you're in the habit of letting the car pick up from very low
revs around town, which I am to be honest.

If I were replacing the carbs on the elan, and both were around the same
price, I'd get dellortos.

Thanks foryou'r reply.
I believe that the Dellortos are cheaper than the Webers
BUT the spares are even more expensive. (You see, It's a dilemma)

in the rev. range.
BUT, Do you think they give the same top end power?
Does anyone know for sure?
I had wondered, if the apparent top end rush with webers was because they
produced less power at the bottom end.
(Does that make sense?)
