Tonneau Cover fo rS4

PostPost by: schwartzd13 » Fri Jul 28, 2006 4:39 pm

Hello All,
Does anyone out there in the US with an S4 want to try to do a group buy
on Tonneau covers?
I just got a price of $500 to do mine and was wondering if we could all
save some $$ if we got them to make more than 1 at a time.

(If anyone know of a source for pre-made Tonneaus, I'd be interested, as
well)

If I can get a rough count I can get a price together.
The upholstery shop is highly recommended (So Cal- LA area) by Lotus
racer/enthusiast Todd Gerstenberger of AVO West.

Thanks,
David

Hi David,
Yes, I'd be interested, but doesn't Robbins already make them for less?
Cheers,
Greg

All I see on Robbins site is Tonneaus for S1/S2 and Tops/boot covers
for1967-1972 cars. If you've got better info, I'd love to have it.
Thanks,
David

Assuming we are talking about the full cover which covers the whole
drivers compartment and not the cover that goes over the hood (or
should that be folding roof?), Paul Matty in the UK supplies them for
RHD. I do not know if they have LHD versions but they often do for
that sort of thing.

I fitted one to my S4. The cover comes fully stitched with an oval
piece for the steering wheel and the flaps that go on the outsides of
the doors. I had to fit the chrome Tenax fittings to it to match up
with all the "male" parts which were already fitted on my car. Took
me half a day and a lot of careful maesuring before I cut each hole.

All in with tax etc I paid about ?240 for the cover and all the
tenaxes and press studs needed. I recon thats about $420 so if your
guy is fitting it for you for $500 then that is not bad.

Regards

David,

I am interested in getting into your group tonneau cover purchase.
Like you, I have a '69 left-hand-drive S4 car.

Hi David,
I'll call Robbins on Monday and see if they make one for S4s, then let
the group know.
Cheers,
Greg

Well, I got a reply to my email from Robbins - they do not make a
tonneau for S4s.
Have you gotten a price for a volume discount?
Cheers,
Greg
