Front hub felt seal

PostPost by: frearther » Wed Feb 22, 2006 11:59 am

Does anyone have a magic method of inserting the felt seal
in the front hub? The new seals that I have measure about .010 inches
larger in diameter than the recess where they need to be seated (Elan
S2, 1965, knock-off hobs). Should I use the heat/freeze method? Won't
the metal part of the seal distort when the hub cools down again?

Arthurh:

WRONG SEAL! When I got the wrong ones from Dave Bean they sent me the
right ones upon notice. I too have a 65 S2.

Doug Troutman,
I couldn't reply on the forum - I checked the part numbers
against the book and they're right. Are some seals mis-labeled?
