Any motor head will love this movie but if you've ever raced on a
meager budget, it will have special significance.

I don't speak motorcycle but for this movie, I pretended I did.

I'm so happy that they still make good movies occasionally.

Steve,

"The World's Fastest Indian" is a movie which is currently playing in
theaters (where I very seldom go but I'm glad I did go in this case).
I don't know if it's out in all markets. I'm in southern California.

If you get a chance to see it, I predict you'll like this one. Same
goes for all Elan owners, and particulary anyone who has ever raced on
a tight budget.

The only Indians I've ever seen in motion (as distinct from museums or
books), were two, or possibly three, that ran the Wall of Death that
toured round the UK in the 1970s. Probably illegal to have a Wall of
Death today ;-(

But, even more impressive than the Indians was the guy who rode the Wall
on a pedal bicycle!

Hi Mike,

Now this reminds me of something with Lotus content. And that would be
Jim Clark's run down the Cortina bobsled run in a ..... Cortina (GT).
Wouldn't that be fun to try? Also, the Ford cab-over dump truck (okay,
lorry) on some road course, Brands Hatch maybe.

Now about this movie... The guy is a Kiwi and the vehicle is a 1920
Indian Scout motorcycle. It will never, ever get close to winning an
Academy Award and that may be the best reason to see it. I hope it
makes it to UK theaters.

Memory says it was the plain old Cortina, at Cortina of course. And
didn't he slip a disc throwing snowballs?

I know he did a milk-float race a Brands and finished close to last.

Ohhh-kay

I will keep an eye open for it. Thanks!

This dump truck thing was another one of those Ford publicity deals
where, for the cameras, he just hot lapped a UK circuit ("hot" being a
relative term in this case... but I'll bet he booted it around there
faster than most would expect). I read about it at the time in one of
the enthusiast publications.

I also remember reading about Clark taking a lory on a race course.
Also remember that his times were fairly respectable.

As for Indians, we have a customrer that cvisits the computer store
where I work on a late 40s Indian. It is a sweet bike and in great
condition.
