Where can I go to have custom battery cables made?

What gauge wire should I use. My +2 has the battery in the trunk.

Has anyone added a maxi fuse of fusible link? Battery shut off?

Just find a truck outfitter in your city.. or a place that sells just
batteries. We have a place in Buffalo called the Battery Place.

You can also try a construction outfitter. In Buffalo we have a place that
sells hydraulic parts.hoses.etc. for Cats.Deeres..etc.

They make the stuff FAST because every hour a Backhoe or a dozer is down is
mucho bucks..they usually make the stuff up while you wait.

Oh..I think I used 00 gauge (been a long time).it was about 3/8 -1/2" thick.
I would not put in a fusible link.but you can put in a shut off if you like.

Sprint Battery Tie-down

My RHD Elan Sprint has a only a rubber strap that connects to a bolt in
the bodywork on either side of the battery. I assume this was not the
stock installation for holding the battery down. Can anyone clue me in
as to what the original setup was? Thanks.

My Sprint has a small fixed lip at the far end of the tray which the bottom
lip of the battery slides underneath. at the other end it has a small
removable bracket like an upside down L with a bolt which goes throught the
top of it and screws into the floor clamping the bottom lip of the battery.
I can send you a drawing or picture if you want

Hi,

I put a battery cuttoff switch on mine - forgot where I bought it -
maybe Waytech Wire; cost about $20. Works fine. The other day I saw what
appears to be the same thing at Harbor Freight for $3!

<< Battery shut off? >>

Bob,

I put a battery shut off switch right where the cable comes into the engine
compartment on the left side. Then I shortened the cable from the boot. I
upgraded to a Super Starter, so the remote solenoid was removed and I bought a
new cable to go from the shut off switch directly to the starter. The shut off
switch came from a local auto chain called Checker and it cost $16. It should
be available at Auto Zone, Bumper to Bumper, or most any auto parts store. I
live 20 miles from Waytech Wire and I have driven there to pick up fuse
boxes, but they are expensive and I would recommend using them only in the absence
of an alternative source.

I bought cable and connectors and then soldered the connectors to the
cables. The cables are high strand count welding cable so it is flexible
and I think it may have been 4 gauge. I also put a cutoff switch on the sill
near my left leg, so I can cut off the battery as I get out of the car. I
think I got the cable and connectors from Pegasus
http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/ although I may have gotten the cable from
the scrap pile at the place I worked at. Many NAPA and other auto parts
stores that service mechanics can get the solder connectors and better cable
too.

I also ran a ground wire of the same gauge up the right hand side of the car
to the engine block, and 10 gauge wires to all the ground bolts. So the
chassis grounds are duplicated by wire grounds. I have not had many of the
electrical issues people talk about although I have had issues like the
regulator acting up (alternator going in this spring), and a couple of
connectors getting pulled out.
