Has anyone bought a carpet set from Automat in NY? Was the
quality/fit OK? Not much about it in the archives. I'd sure
appreciate feedback from anyone who's had experiences with them.

Thanks,

I bought a carpet set three years ago for my 64 S1 restoration, put it
away for two years and finally got around to installing it earlier this
year. The quality was slightly disappointing and the fit was fair. The
rear bulkhead had to be remade because it had trimmed slots for shoulder
belts that were not on the S1. There are no instructions with the
carpet kit and it requires a considerable amount of prefitting. Automat
is the only manufacturer of carpet sets for the S1 and S2 that I found
after an extensive search on the internet. There are several choices
available in Canada and the UK for S3 and S4. Good Luck.

We live only a few miles from Automat and bought a set for our S4
last April. They fit well and the quality is very good. We gave
them the original, ratty carpets and they duplicated them (without
the holes and tears). Our car did not have any carpets behind the
seats when we got it and, since we need to keep the windows open part
way when it rains, resulting in water getting in behind the seats, we
did not bother havin a set made.

We also had a set of mats made up with the Lotus emblem in the
original yellow and green. We only use thes at shows.
