I just watched it.

Cool.

It reminded again why I bought my Elan back in'63.

I better get to Jimmy's farm beforew I kick out.

Keep your stick on the ice!!

Victory by Design - Lotus, the wrap-up

"Victory By Design - Lotus" provided a very nice look at the early Lotus
race cars up through Black Beauty, the "79" that won Lotus their last
Formula One championship in 1978. And it is indeed a Beauty.

But then they leap-frogged all the way to the last Lotus Formula One
chassis, the 109 without driving it (understandably), and a two-minute
walk-by of an incomplete line-up of production cars. Very entertaining as
far as it went, but the show needed another hour to finish what it started.

I watched the last 15 minutes or so with a growing sense of dread... "Oh
no, they're running out of time. They'll never finish." And they
didn't. I'm not disappointed in what I saw... not in the least. I'm
just feeling like I should hurry back after the intermission to catch the
second half.

Tim

Gee Bill, thanks for the well thought out, impeccably reasoned argument.
It brought so much to the discussion that I feel all the more enlightened
for it.

:-)
Back then when the show aired?
Or back then when any of the cars shown were current?

Fortunately (or unfortunately?... creaking bones, groan), I was around
for both. Including by a narrow margin, the first trials car.

Tim

Thank you sooo much, Mark and Franklin, for telling us all about the
airing of this show, yesterday.
I called one of my sons right after reading your post and made him set
it up to Tivo.

Watched it last night, with all three of my boys. Great fun to watch
(and a terrific male bonding experience.)
Lucky guy that Alain fellow, what a way to spend a day - driving all
that amazing machinery in that beautiful scenery.

And I agree with Tim, it left me wanting another hour on Lotus road cars.

Merry Christmas and Joys of the Season to all.
