Boot lid fit

Hi there,
My +2 is slowly coming back together after being rear ended by a
Toyota landcruiser. I have fitted a complete rear outer skin and am
now trial fitting all the trim items before I paint it.
The item I am currently having problems with is the new boot lid.
basically i am sure the body is square (I have ensured it is level
side to side all along the car but the new boot lid does not fit
very well, there are 2 problems.
1 The bootlid is 5mm high at the back RH corner, by adding shims
under the hinges I can get this to look reasonable.
2 Even with the above correction the gap across the back to the
number plate panel is uneven at the sides it is 6,mm in the middle
nearer 12mm .
has anyone else had these problems, I am thinking there could be 3
root causes
1 the boot lid is twisted (as with the skin it came from Boss motors
out of the original mould so should be Ok)
2 the bodies were never square in the first place and I have
corrected this
3 They are all like this.(I can't remember what it used to be like
now)
Anyone any ideas?
