I was seaching through amazon.co.uk for something else and
stumbled accross four DVDs that are to be released in early December
(some details found on other sites)

The Lotus Story - Vol 1 1948-1958
Vol 2 1959-1962
Vol 3 1963-1968
Vol 4 1968-onwards

These were produced by Duke Video as part of the "Marques &
Models Programmes"

Appearently the first volume appeared on mid 90s with the last
one to be released in December, with the others being republished and
release on DVD. Appearently about 50 something mins each.

Opinions on if these are worth owning? Seems like likely
christmas tree fodder to me.
They are being produced in "Region 0" e.g. viewable worldwide
at least according to amazon.co.uk.

I have Volume 3 on tape and it is brilliant, if buying DVD bear in mind
that some UK and US DVD's are for different regions although some
players are multi-region.

They are in PAL format Region 0 so you will need a player that can read
it. Either that or rip it on your PC and burn a NTSC disc. They are not
listed on the US site amazon.com Curiously Duke video
http://www.dukevideo.com/Welcome/Home.aspx does not list this title. So
maybe a few emails and phone calls would help them out.

Region 0 is "all regions" so it should play everywhere as far as
region locking is concerned.

Despite the huge differences in TV standards I wasn't aware of any
difference in playback of a DVD other than the vertical resolution of
NTSC discs being 480 lines vs 576 on PAL, the reason being (I think)
that most DVD players will output in non-native format - maybe this is
a European thing but I can certainly play North American sourced
"NTSC" DVD's on a 17 year old non-multistandard PAL TV, the DVD player
being a GBP25 region free Chinese cheapy bought from Amazon UK a
couple of years ago. It might be worth checking your DVD menu's or
documentation to see if this is an option.

I have these in VHS. I've had them for a few years and haven't watched them
in quite a while, but from memory they are quite interesting. Almost as good
as "A Gentleman's Motor Racing Diary".

It would definitely make good Christmas Tree Fodder. In the US these should
be available from www.Motorbooks.com since that is where I got my copies a
few years ago.

Martin, My cheapo Sony wonly play PAL discs. So I'm calling Duke today and
request a NTSC version be made available.
