Where can I get braided copper suitable for ground straps?

What size? How many amps must it be able to handle?

Check out: www.britishwiring.com
They've got proper coded wiring, bullet connectors, grounding straps,
etc.

Hi Bob
Earth braiding should be available from most electrical industial suppliers.
Although you might have to buy it by the reel.
With braiding you really need to check the reel it comes off to see what the
manufacturers ampage is as they differ slightly depending on what size of
strands they use.
You are interested in the quoted cross sectional area (not height by width
as when you stretch it the rectangular size changes so its not a good
indication)
As a general rule:-
0.5 mm2 is 10A
2.0 mm2 is 30A
7.0 mm2 is 63A
9.0 mm2 is 90A
If you are wanting to ground the engine or anything that might see full
battery load you should as a guess be using at least 15 mm2. I would be
tempted to use 20 or 25 mm2

Depending on how much you need etc I usually have some knocking around the
garage.

Best regards

I found Nebraska Surplus on the web. They have tinned ground braid that will
handle up to 350 amps. Prices seem very reasonable.

Hi Bob

The 7/8" wide is what you are looking for, 100amp capacity is
what the original feed to solenoid was. I think it is 4 ot. You might
be able to find what you need a a good marine supply store.

Gary

Thanks. Unfortunately the 7/8" was out of stock. I ordered the 1".

As it is tinned it should not corrode and should work well.
