Tranny Rebuild or ?

PostPost by: 66S2 » Fri Aug 26, 2005 6:07 pm

Hi Gang,

My gearbox is requesting some attention ? bad noises on my
trip to/from "The Weekend" at Monterey in my '66 S2. My
normally
sizzling shifter got worse and broke out into loud
shrieking/whining/howling twice in 3rd gear and gave a hint of doing
it in 2nd. So, a few questions:

1) Is there any other source of rebuild information beyond the
Workshop Manual?

2) Does anyone have any experience with the Quaife 5-speed
conversion?

3) Does anyone have a source for a bellhousing adapter if I make
the change to the Isuzu 5-speed conversion?

4) If I need to make the adapter myself, is there any chance
someone has drawings showing bolt locations for both the Ford block
and Isuzu transmission?

5) If I go the Isuzu route, has anyone worked out the details of
the clutch, drive shaft, and speedo drive changes?

TIA, Hopefully,

Curt

Hey Curt,
which S2 was yours? Was the the british racing green one in the corrals? Or the light blue one? I saw a few this past weekend. I flew in from MN so I didn't have my car there. Great weekend of racing though. That 26R held its own against some big engine vehicles.

Mine was the light yellow one (Pale Primrose) with the top up. I
