Hello All,

I have a question about lubrication and where I can find grease
nipples for my 1970 +2S Federal car. I went to do the greasing and
noticed that there are no nipples only plugs on my car.
Unfortunately, living in Finland it is almost impossible to find
anything in UNF and now I need to track down a supplier in the UK--can
anyone help?

Anyone know why they did not put grease nipples on this model? Seems
like there is not much cost savings in just putting plugs.

Also, can anyone tell me what the important greasing points are--it is
a bit unclear from the manual.

Thanks for the help.

Try Paul Matty Sportscars. According to their catalogue, the part is
"Grease nipple, vertical link. Part# HZZZ026A" and is suitable for the Plus
Two and the Elan.

And now we start the grease/oil debate?

My S2 doesn't have grease nipples. I take used to take out the plugs and
screw in a nipple to grease them.

I was never happy that the grease got right up where it was supposed to be
so now I take the trunnion out and clean it up and grease it before putting
back together which squeezes out any excess. I use Lithium grease which is
light but very sticky and it does a great job. It's a good chance to check
those plastic bushes at the bottom of the trunnion which seem to wear pretty
quickly.

It does say in the workshop manual "remove plug/bolt and fit nipple
to grease, and replace plug after" I just leave the nipple in all
year.

Peter,
I got some from Paul Matty next day via the post- couple more days to
Finland maybe. Don't forget that the book says to use oil rather than
grease.

Cheers,
Pete
