Does anyone living in south western Ontario have a rear hub puller
that I can borrow. I need to strip both the left & right hubs.

Keith,

If you're in Windsor, I'm only 3 hours away in central Ohio. I don't
really want to ship them anywhere, but you're welcome to use them here.

Roger,
I appreciate your offer. I live in Burlington (just west of Toronto) & would
like to find someone closer if possible. I am however going down to the Log
25 & will be picking up my friend who lives in Montpelier Ohio. If I don't
get the hubs removed before then maybe I could stop by your place on the
way. Where do you live in Ohio.

What kind of hubs are you pulling?

Bolt on or Knock-on.

IF it's knock on I'll send you the puller and you can use.

So make your own. Since it is a 69 S4 SE it should be knock off, which means
a tool to remove the hubs is easy to make.

Remove or just loosen the axle nut. Get a couple of nuts to screw onto the
axle shaft so the end nut is just proud of the axle stub. Then take some
thick washers about the inner diameter of the knock off and put them in the
knock off nut. Now screw the knock off nut on so it pushes against the nuts
through the washers. This will apply uniform pressure to all the threads.
Tighten the knock off until the hub comes loose. This was shown to me by an
Elan racer and has worked fine. Now if I can just get the time to use it
again this week so I can get the bad bearing replaced.

You can also get a short piece of tube to use instead of the nuts. I think
1/2" or possibly 3/4 black gas pipe will work.

Keith,

I'm in Columbus, just off I-71. I have both a bolt-on puller and a pair
of K-O pullers I've made from steel specifically for my Elans. I would
assume you would be passing through earlier than Friday on the way to
LOG. I'd love to just take them along to LOG and pop them off for you
right there, BUT, SWMBO has other plans.

LOG 25 theme is formula cars and I'd love to be taking my 20/22 Formula
Junior. I'd love to hear the Bob Dance and Bob Sparshot talks and all
the anecdotes they will have to tell. Bear in mind I've even made the
pilgrimage to the Jim Clark room in Scotland and the other associated
Jim Clark sites in the area. (Thank you, Mike Causer for the
directions). But, we have a niece who has decided she wants to get
married in Las Vegas, of all places, the Saturday of LOG. I was furious,
but it's a losing battle. Anyone want to tow and display my car at LOG?
GRRRRRH!!!!!

Roger

I have a diagram with I think dimensions on that any engineering company
could make.
Give me a few hours and I'll get it from the garage and scan it. I'll
upload it to the gallery if the quality is good enough.

No to the tow and "display" offer. Now if there was an opportunity to "tow
and race", well that's another story altogether!

Well, Bill, how much of "another story" is there, ie: how badly would you like to race it? There is the track day.
