Door bush replacement

Hi,

To replace the bushes on the door pillar on my +2 I first have to remove the
countersunk screw located in the door bottom and it is stuck fast!

Rather than resort to drilling it out, are there any tips or suggestions to
aid removal.

Thanks in advance.

David

This might sound odd, but... if it is rust which blocks the screw, try to
poor Coca Cola over it. I've heard numerous rumours that it works.

Coca-Cola contains Phosphoric acid, same thing as the commercial
rust removers. Coke not being quite as concentrated. On my baby
Elan the hinge brackets are aluminum. If you can remove yours
(assuming they work the same)then a little heat might expand the
hinge bracket enought to free the screw.

I know this sounds drastic, but after much persuasion failed, I used an
impact screwdriver. A few prayers were offered initially, but the screws
cracked off with a crisp blow with a heavy hammer - and no damage -
honest!

I had the same problem and nothing I tried would move it, heat,
penetrating fluid or impact driver. I had to drill it out, it was
rusted solid.

Good luck

Try the "screw out" things sold by Sears. My wife uses them at work
and has no trouble removing stuck or broken screws.

Thanks for all your replies. I have already tried the impact option with no
success. Looks like I will have to get my drill out!
