Stromberg Engine Mounts

I had noticed that the exhaust manifold was getting ever closer to the
chasis rail. A quick look under the car confirmed that the exhaust side
engine mount was starting to fail. After plenty of swearing and some
grazed knuckles the exhaust side engine mount was replaced. This did the
trick and the gap to the chasis rail was restored. However the bottom of
the rear carb was now closer to the top of the footwell, only about 1/4"
in it.
Now if the exhaust engine mount was tired so could the carb side mount.
After even more swearing and grazed knuckles the carb side mount was
replaced. Aarrgghh this has just made things worse as now the bottom of
the carb is in contact with the top of the footwell! Bugger! Looking at
the old mount it is slightly different to the new one I have just fitted
and sure enough the rubber insert has sagged. The car has a Spyder
chasis and I have checked with them which mounts to use, they say same
as the standard Lotus ones as the chasis is a clone of the Lotus original.
AFAIK for the Stromberg car the engine mounts are the same both sides.
Is the Weber mount for the carb side higher? Anyone have any ideas here?
