First Drive in 6 months!
Posted: Fri May 13, 2005 7:07 pmI moved to Switzerland in December and the Elan had to stay behind. I went
back this past week and saw the car in my neighbor's business warehouse.
He had moved it to the second floor! After about 7 cranks, it started right
up and ran beautifully. I drove over to the loading dock and we got a big
fork truck and positioned the forks OUTSIDE the wheels. Put a couple of 4x4's
under the body and lifted the car right up with no balance problems! In a
matter of seconds I was on the ground and driving away.
It was great to drive the car again. Forgot what incredible handling it has.
I later pulled into a scrap yard near his warehouse and drove onto the scales,
where I found it weighed 1400 lbs. Got a lot of offers to scrap the car for
15-20 cents a pound from the guys recycling aluminum, which I respectfully
declined! Then drove back to the wareouse and reversed the process. Hopefully
I'll do this again in November!
